Winter Sunrise outside Bishop, California
I photographed this scene in February of 2022 on a weekend trip to the Eastern Sierra. For almost a year, I had visualized a composition like this one in my head. I scouted different locations during the course of multiple trips to the area. During a fall 2021 trip to the area, I finally found the right location for this shot. Though I enjoyed the picture I took from that trip, I wanted to return when the conditions were a little different. I hoped to witness the scene with snow-capped peaks and clouds from an oncoming or clearing storm. During that February trip, those conditions lined up perfectly.
