Milky Way above Moonlight Falls, Inyo National Forest
I took this photo on the final night of a backpacking trip into Sabrina Basin in August 2024 with my friend Courtney Glancy. She had brought her digital camera and wide-angle lens to shoot some astrophotgraphy of the waterfall, as the Milky Way would rise above it in the evening. I helped her illuminate the scene with a headlamp and dial in the composition. Once she finished, I decided to try my own interpretation of the scene using her camera. Courtney helpfully walked over to the shoreline and illuminated the falls with her headlamp as I photographed the scene.
