Glacial Boulder, Merced River, Yosemite National Park
I had driven this stretch of the Merced River on countless occasions while visiting Yosemite Valley. The large, solitary boulder in the middle of the river had always caught my eye. Finally, on a trip in December 2022, I finally stopped to see what photo I could create here. It had just snowed a few days prior to my arrival, and the valley floor still retained a fresh coat of snow. The almost-monochromatic scene shows all the textures that can be revealed after a winter storm.
